Plurkify Me Alpha
I’ve finished coding the first release of Plurkify Me. I had a couple suggestions for a name change on Plurk earlier although didn’t want to take a lot of time choosing a different name.
For now, it sticks. Although if you have any ideas, please drop them in the comments. I’ll be posting a poll later to let y’all decide the name. You are going to be the ones using it!
This release is by no means a full release. It’s very much an alpha version, especially considering I only spent the last day coding it. This was an all out 24 hour coding marathon.
At this stage, Plurkify Me, only alerts you about new notifications (people that want to be your friend!
) Every five minutes, the notifier will update it’s log and show you any friend alerts you have need to tend to.
Your login is saved in the account manager and right now, you can have a maximum of four accounts saved. That’s purely because I didn’t want to deal with the pictures going out of the window.
Your profile will appear in the account mananger window as your profile picture. Click it so that it’s got a white drop shadow instead of black and that is your active account that will be looking for notifications.
Planned for next release:
- Subscribed plurk updates (only ones you choose)
- Multiple accounts active
- Post plurks
- Anything someone wants? comment below…
I’d also like to get some feedback on the mechanics of the application - just how it feels. Like do the controls make sense? What’s missing or just plain wrong?
Disclaimer: Plurkify Me is offered under the assumption that you are a smart user and know what you’re doing. There’s nothing particularly harmful in the Plurkify Me package, it’s all html, css and javascript. Those tags can be pretty pesky from time to time. Although if you damage your computer, it’s your own fault. No responsibility is taken by me. I’ve installed it on my computer and it works so it should on yours. You can thank Adobe for telling me so. By downloading Plurkify Me you agree to these terms.
Update: From what I’ve heard there’s a problem with the badge below if your on linux. In that case you can install from the direct link.

Hey, Thanks for the app dude!! I cant wait to test it. Can you provide a link with something like Plurkify.air ? Because i am on Linux and i cant install it from that flash link.
i mean a link like this

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/air/linux/samples/1/Fresh.air
Installed, add profile works fine, but after that, what should I do?
@popoever: After you have your account established, click on your picture which then should have a white dropshadow meaning it’s the active account. Then you can minimize it to the system tray and anytime you have a new friend request it will pop up a notification.
