what i write

This blog is about my experience as a web worker. That will range from coding and design, to business, freelancing, LIP and travel.

About me

Surfing LessonsMy name’s Cody Baker although I go by Cody Robert (my middle name) for the most part because I was slow on the gun in registering codybaker.com. Now that I check it out, it seems I was slow in picking up the .com, .net, and .org.

My dad pointed out to me the other day that someone had registered my name. I had to remind him that happened about six years ago. For some reason Dad really likes the sexy little lamp graphic he’s got going in his navigation.

small talk done, down to business

I’ve worked as a freelancer for the last 6 years doing odd-end jobs. In reality, it’s the only job I’ve ever had. I worked at a daycare for almost a year, Fry’s Electronics (horrible store to work for), a kitchen, and landscaping business. None of those jobs lasted more than a few months.

All the while, I’ve continued to work online making money when needed. At this point, I’ve decided to venture forth and sustain a full income online. The eventual goal being able to travel while doing so.

I’m versed in CSS/XHTML, PHP, Javascript, Flash/Actionscript, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, website design, logo design, tae-kwon-do, French, Japanese, Russian, copywriting, cake design, swing dancing and tango.

personal stuff

I have enough hobbies and interests for a village full of people. So I’m not going to list them all here. I already tortured you enough with my skills list up above. I know you skipped it once you got to Photoshop and saw how much of the list was still left.

You might have noticed from above, had you not skipped the second half of my skills! But I very much enjoy dancing and cooking. I also love biking, tennis and pretty much any sport that I can play with friends and have some good fun.

If you’re ever in the area (Portland, OR, USA) be sure to give me a call and I’d love to meet you for a cup of coffee / good cigar. Portland, hands down, has some of the best coffee shops anywhere. Stumptown anyone?
